Stone pond
La Romieu, Gers
The curved pool made of natural stone transforms this ruined wall.
As part of the renovation of the site, the decision to preserve the remains of the old stone wall with its wisteria led to the idea of placing this fountain basin against it. The simplicity of its lines (a curved basin with a curbstone without any embellishment) leaves plenty of room for the vegetation and the stone, thus enhancing the value of this pretty vegetated ruin in the garden. Apart from its practical aspect in the garden (watering), the water also brings a beneficial coolness in the heart of summer, accentuated by the very soothing sound dimension that a fountain brings.
The stone of the basin was patinated and aged to measure by us, allowing the whole to integrate naturally with the wall and the vegetation that covers it, as if the fountain had always been there. A strip of paving was added at ground level for greater comfort, and the water supply to the pool is simply made through the stones of the wall, with a view to keeping the whole thing simple.
