Natural stone fireplace
in l’Isle Jourdain, Gers
The ashlar fireplace was custom made in this renovated house near Toulouse. The jambs are simple, the lintel is carved with a decoration of lozenges and medallions with floral motifs. The mantle is built in brick, recalling the buildings and materials of the region. The combination of natural stone and brick works perfectly, in keeping with the architecture of the site.
A second ashlar fireplace with the same lines was built to mirror the first. Of more modest dimensions, with a simple lintel and a higher base, this less monumental fireplace is adapted to the sitting area.
